COVID-19 PROTOCOL
Duluth East Youth Football developed our COVID-19 protocol from the COVID-19 Sports Guidance for Youth from the Minnesota Department Of Health, updated 6/19/20.
We will follow the following strategies to mitigate the risk of COVID-19:
Upon arrival all staff and participants must pass daily screening (see below) conducted when entering the field. The screening process will include taking their temperature on site. Duluth East Youth Football will keep an attendance log for all participants. For clinics and practices, we will limit pods to no more than 25 participants including coaches per MDH sports guidance for youth. Intermixing between pods will be kept at a minimum and we will reduce contact between players as much as possible. We will have 2 weeks of practice before playing games. Friends and family should not attend practices to avoid overcrowding, but if it is necessary for them to be at practice, they need to practice social distancing of at least 6 feet. Face coverings are not required, but are recommended for spectators and for athletes when coming and going from practice. Each athlete must have their own water bottle for practice. Each athlete is issued equipment to use and are not allowed to share equipment among other athletes. Footballs will be sanitized between practices.
Daily Screening for COVID-19 for participants:
Are you feeling sick or have you been experiencing any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours? New onset cough or shortness of breath by themselves OR at least 2 of the following: fever (100.4 or higher), chills, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, and gastrointestinal symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea.
If a participant has a new symptom with no other diagnosis to explain it, they should stay home and talk to their health care provider about testing for COVID-19.
If a participant is tested for COVID-19 and has a positive test result for COVID-19 or a negative test result but symptoms with no other diagnosis: Stay home at least 10 days since symptoms first appeared and until no fever for at least 3 days without medication and improvement of other symptoms.
Duluth East Youth Football will notify all participants in our program by email if a player becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms.
